Save the date! On Monday, December 5th, Tayari Jones will give a lecture on "Tales From the Kidscape" at 3:30 p.m. in Love Library, Room 430, and read from her collected works at 7 p.m. (also in Love Library, Room 430)—Both events are free and open to the public.

She is a magician who can make the whole world feel like a dizzy illusion. The truth is a coin she pulls from behind your ear.

About the Author:Tayari Jones is the author of Leaving Atlanta and The Untelling, winners of the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award and The Lillian C. Smith Awards, respectively. She has been described by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as "one of the most important writers of her generation," and called "A Writer to Watch," by Essence Magazine. Jones has received fellowships from The United States Artists Foundation, Breadloaf Writers Conference, Illinois Arts Council, Arizona Commission on the Arts, and The Corporation of Yaddo. Currently she serves on MFA faculty of Rutgers University—Newark. Her third novel, Silver Sparrow, was just released from Algonquin Books. Upon its publication, the Village Voice wrote “Tayari Jones is fast defining black middle class Atlanta the way that Cheever did for Westchester.”
