It is through this avenue that this awesome team of teachers and entrepreneurs created a new way to give people access to books. While many families might not be able to get to public libraries, afford children's books, or have access to the Internet, they have cell phones and because of this, StoryTime has discovered a way to reach these families and close the gap. Exposing children to literature at an early age is vital to their development and StoryTime has done their research, this program has already proven to be incredibly valuable. Not only is their program three hundred times cheaper than shipping books, it has been shown to dramatically improve early literacy.

Applications are invited for a full-time, without-term Professor/Reader in Children’s Literature. We are particularly looking for applicants with research and teaching interests in reading, memory, oral history, and/or writing for children, complementary to those of staff in the National Centre for Children’s Literature (NCRCL) and in English literature more broadly. Roehampton has a growing international reputation for its work in both memory and reading.

The department is home of the AHRC-funded Memory Network, the AHRC-funded Memories of Fiction: An Oral History of Readers’ Life Stories, Prison Reading Groups and the award-winning NCRCL. We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates who will be research leaders in their area with a track record of world class research, external research funding success, and collaborative external partnerships.

1. Assistant Professor Specializing in Children's Literature, Rowan University

The English Department at Rowan University has a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor of children’s literature.  We are seeking broadly trained candidates prepared to teach courses in children’s literature and young adult literature as well as a foundation course for English majors, survey courses in U.S. literature and/or British literature, and seminars in area(s) of expertise.  Class size is typically 35 students or less.  A 3/3 teaching load is guaranteed for the first two years and can be renewed annually with evidence of continuing scholarship.  Course load will sometimes be split between the Glassboro campus and other nearby locations.  No Composition.  Departmental and university service is expected.  Initial interviews will be conducted at MLA.  The position begins September 1, 2014.

2.   Professor of English Literature with focus on Postcolonial Literature, Université Laval (Quebec, CAN)

It has a generalist component for the undergraduate level, at which we offer children's literature; at the graduate level we offer seminars in postcolonial literature, which the selected candidate could develop in his or her area of specialization. Building on the strengths of its established, internationally recognized program, the Department seeks outstanding scholars whose research interests and projects address the lives or contexts of children and childhood from an interdisciplinary perspective.  All areas in the social sciences and humanities are welcome, including interdisciplinary fields such as performance studies, gender studies and disability studies.
