Youth Services Librarian - The Westfield Athenaeum

Youth Services Librarian - The Westfield Athenaeum is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, service-oriented and creative Youth Services Librarian to plan, develop, promote and provide the full range of library services to children, teens, their caregivers and families. Join a unique informational, educational, recreational and cultural center with three entities serving the greater Westfield, MA community: a busy public library serving adults, teens, children and their caregivers; a noted historical museum with substantial special collections; and an art museum and community gallery.
Join the Athenaeum's management team as one of four department heads in planning for the ongoing programs and services of the Athenaeum. Responsibilities include staff management of a highly dedicated staff of professionals and para-professionals, reference and circulation services, young adult services (a Teen Services Librarian is on staff), collection development, programming, community outreach, public relations, acting as the liaison to local public and private schools, grant writing and related duties.
Requires an ALA/MLS plus 3-5 years increasingly responsible experience, preferably in a public library setting, providing library services to youth up through age 18, as well as their caregivers and families. Excellent customer service and communication skills, thorough knowledge of children's literature, creative programming skills and computer literacy are required.
Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 plus full benefits package.
